Press release
"Perhaps it could be gluten!"
Awareness campaign for celiac disease by Dr. Schär
and Green Bay & Co, official representative/distributor of Schär products
Athens, October 19, 2021. Dr. Schär, staying true to its timeless commitment to consumers, announces the launch of a new campaign: "Perhaps it could be gluten!"
The 360 ° campaign is implemented through a series of actions that include a press conference, articles, radio broadcasts, informative videos and posts on social media. It is addressed to all age groups and aims to inform the general public about celiac disease, its symptoms and its consequences. At the same time, it seeks to highlight the important role that proper nutrition plays in patients and how much it can improve their daily lives.
The starting point of the campaign was the Press Conference, which took place on Monday, October 18th, in collaboration with Green Bay & Co. The main speakers were, Mr. G. Mantzaris, Coordinating Director of the Gastroenterology Department and Director of the Medical Service of “Evangelismos” Hospital, Mr. E. Zoumbaneas, Dietitian Nutritionist, Master Practitioner in Eating Disorders & Obesity, the well-known artist Elli Kokkinou, a celiac herself and the celiac associations: Hellenic Society of Celiac Disease, Action for Celiac Disease, Hestia of Celiac Disease.
Valuable in this endeavor, is the collaboration of Dr. Schär with “Bioiatriki” Healthcare Group. Those who complete an online evaluation of symptoms related to celiac disease at www.glutentest.gr can request an information package via email, which also contains a coupon for a test for celiac disease antibodies at any clinic belonging to Bioiatriki Healthcare Group’s network at a heavily discounted price of 9 euro.
"Celiac disease can greatly affect a patient's life. It is very important for me, but also for those who suffer from the disease, to have a specific diet from which gluten is excluded. I could do nothing but support the efforts of Dr. Schär to inform the public about the disease. The symptoms are sometimes so simple and common that they are difficult to detect, so it is good to do the test at www.glutentest.gr", said Elli Kokkinou.
"I am very happy to be participating in this project to inform the public about celiac disease. About one in a hundred people have celiac disease and the symptoms may vary, but they also may never occur. That is why it is very important for people to know the simple symptoms and signs, in order to improve their daily life and of course in order to be healthy", said Mr. G. Mantzaris, MD Gastroenterologist, Coordinating Director of the Gastroenterology Department and Director of Medicine Service of the Hospital "Evangelismos.”
"The campaign to inform the world about celiac disease by Dr. Schär, is of great importance and it is my pleasure to participate in it. Gluten intolerance can negatively affect a patient's life to a great extent, as it is an ingredient in many products, both in food and cosmetics, so it is difficult to avoid it", said Mr. E. Zoubaneas, Dietitian Nutritionist, and Master Practitioner in Eating Disorders & Obesity.
